New 8-string

Nobody reads this anyway - especially since I haven't posted in a while.
So I will post about my April Fools' joke for this year. This is my new 8-string you see in this video screenshot. I bought this Ibanez RG8 from Guitar Center a few weeks ago and I love it! I had to do some adjustments so the strings wouldn't buzz so much. I am tuned to EAEADGBE.

So this joke is basically a ridiculous 30 second death metal song about April Fools'. Really, the video is a joke itself because it has blastbeat drums all the way through and is played so fast and just crazy all together. I did the vocals (inhale screams) and you can see it on April 1 on my first YouTube channel. The lyrics are as follows:

THE SUN IS RISING
PREPARE FOR TODAY
YOUR FRIENDS ARE YOUR FOES
BUT NO MORE TO PLAY
YOU STAND THERE CONFUSED
SO WHAT DO YOU SAY?
BUT THEN YOU REMEMBER
TODAY IS APRIL FOOLS'!

You can watch a more serious 8-string video below. I still need to shoot a video for my "low end" showcase. I called the song "Mount Kilimanjaro." I am not anywhere near the mountain, so I guess I will have to get creative for my background. (no green screen available.) This is "Living in the Last Days" below.

Our show didn't take place yesterday, but has been moved to April 20. I do have a new job coming on April 15 at Verizon Wireless. Thankfully, the day of the show doesn't conflict with the new job.

Flapping to space

Haha. I had a dream last night I went to space. The way I flew to space was funny. I just flapped my arms and slowly rose up. It was kinda more of a small flap of the arms, and not exaggerated. I slowly rose above the trees, which looked liked they came out of books since they were cartoonish. As I passed through the clouds, the blue sky became darker until it was more black. I rose above the earth's atmosphere and entered  outer space with no harm from the lack of oxygen. I saw the planets, mainly focusing on the Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn - at least those are the celestial bodies that stand out in my mind's eye.

The second time I went, I took my brother, Jordan, with me. I must say he flew very well.  We never got tired of flapping, and it took us seemingly only a minute to reach outer space from the ground up. Looking below my feet to him, I asked Jordan if he had ever been up this high. Of course he hadn't, nor had I before, except the one time by myself. Unfortunately my alarm went off before we both shared the visit to the planets.

Composing with noise

I've been composing a lot lately. Therefore, it has slowed my YouTube video count. I usually come out with one almost every week. It's so hard doing it all by yourself when you know you aren't trained for mixing and mastering. :) But I do the best I can with the help of those at GuitarMasterClass.net (GMC) and my friends and family.

You can sneak a peek at my latest song I composed and still working on. I usually record the bass last now - that's how I saw Skillet do it in a behind the scenes look. So for now I don't have bass. I find myself laying down a bunch of ideas and then finishing them later. I started to redo "A Father's Love" today, but started something different. I have a lot of unfinished projects. haha

Since I've been composing like crazy, this has slowed my practice time considerably...to practically nothing. But I try to just enjoy life as it comes. So much to worry .... no not worry ... I can't believe I typed that - so much to ... endure in life. I couldn't think of a word for that. I guess that's the problem. When a person has "noise" inside of them, it's hard to focus. When you strive to stay dedicated to God and think about your future (find a full time job) it's kinda scary. Sometimes you paste a smile on your face so others don't know you are "noisy" inside. That's my word I use as of late to describe that.

I was talking about practice time because I'm a subscribed member at GMC, and it feels like a waste of money to pay and not use it to the fullest. But I already paid my year's subscription...so I'll just use it when I feel like it. It's hard to learn new things. It's a challenge. If I can't catch on right away, I tend to walk away from it. I don't always, but it's hard not to. I like to play songs that's within my skill, but then that means I won't expand my musical vocabulary or skill itself.

Gosh, this was gonna be a short post...but look how it turned out. haha

I added a poll at the bottom. What do you enjoy reading the most on this blog? You might feed the fish if you wish. They get kinda hungry since this blog isn't that popular. Tell your friends about this blog if you enjoy it. Thank you. :)
